Good Questions, Tough Questions (1/15/2019)

Our house hunt continues, but it looks like we will be able to get a contract signed this coming Friday! Thank you for your prayers.

This past week, we got to be a part of Bro Hill’s Thursday night English teaching and Bible study. From 6 pm they do English and from 7 pm they hold a Bible study at the church. As he explained how people can only find true happiness in Jesus, the gentleman (in his 50’s) sitting to my left poured over the verses printed in the bulletin. At the end of lesson, Bro. Hill opened up the study for questions. The gentleman asked a couple questions:

“This eternal life, what is it?”

He was referring to John 3:16 which talks about everlasting life. After we explained eternal life, he asked a second question. This one was about Romans 10:9.

“It says that God raised him [Jesus] from the dead. What’s that about?

This man did not know about the resurrection of Jesus. We got to tell him that Jesus is resurrected, ascended and coming again. Please pray for Mr. Sakata’s salvation as he is exposed to God’s truth from the Bible.

At another Bible study on Saturday, a Christian lady asked a question after the study:

“Is it meaningless to pray for people to get saved?”

Her grandmother recently passed away without trusting Christ and this lady wondered if her 20 years of praying had gone unnoticed. Questions like this reveal that what we do has eternal ramifications. Each day, I look out and remember that entire cities and societies exist without the knowledge of God’s saving grace. Please pray for laborers.

Rosie has already been picking up more phrases and words through interactions with those attending church services.

According to one U.S. Department, Japanese is “Super Hard” to learn. If you read this article, you will see how there are 4 different ways “to be,” each with a different level of politeness. How polite are you being? (pun intended)
