Japan Recon Tour – for those considering missions/ministry abroad

Since 2024, Reaching Japan has been hosting reconnaissance tours (Spring/Summer/Fall) in lieu of mission trips.

What is a Recon Tour?

Recon is a curated experience designed for those seeking God’s will for their life and praying about ministry in General, or ministry in Japan specifically. Experience life and what ministry in Japan will look like so you can prayerfully consider your next steps.

Those looking to simply see the sights and have a good time need not apply. Serious ministry inquires only.

Application Process

Participation is by invitation only. Here is the process:

1. Submit an Interest Form
Start by filling out our Recon Tour Interest Form. This gives us some basic information about you, your church background, and your interest in serving in Japan.

2. Talk With Our Team
After reviewing your information, we’ll contact you to schedule a conversation. This gives us a chance to get to know you, answer your questions, and learn more about your interest in Japan.

3. Invitation to Apply
Following the conversation, we’ll let you know whether you are invited to submit a formal application for the Reaching Japan Recon Tour.

4. Application Review
Once your application is submitted, our team will review it. If approved, you will receive an invitation to join an upcoming Recon Tour.

Only applicants with strong references, a track record of church involvement, and a good public testimony will be invited.

Typical participants are high school seniors and college students, but all strong candidates will be considered. If you already have experience in the work force but are seriously considering ministry abroad or missions in Japan, we encourage you to apply.

Upcoming Recon Tour Dates

Participants will be responsible to pay for their plane tickets in addition to paying $1100 USD to cover costs while in the country. This covers food, transportation, and lodging for the duration of Recon. U.S., plane tickets typically range from $1800 ~ $3000 depending on when they are purchased and where you fly from.

Tours will be approximately 7 days. You will arrive on Saturday and return to the U.S. on the following Friday.
