In this video, we will discuss various societal and cultural challenges currently facing Japan. We’ll begin by exploring the criminal justice system, including crime statistics and trends, with a focus on the growing elderly prison population and the difficulties inmates face when reintegrating into society. Next, we will delve into the nightlife scene, including host and hostess clubs, the exploitation of women, and how financial pressures often lead individuals into unsavory industry. We’ll examine issues like materialism, self-worth, and loneliness, which perpetuate these cycles of exploitation.

Additionally, we’ll address misconceptions about Japan’s workforce, shedding light on the significant portion of blue-collar workers who support industries like automobile manufacturing. We’ll also touch on the prevalence of scams targeting the elderly, particularly those using video calls to impersonate authorities. Finally, we’ll consider how these societal problems reflect deeper needs for meaning, purpose, and community.

In addition, we will discuss the fall, spring, and summer Recon trips. These trips provide a unique opportunity to serve, learn about Japanese culture and society, and witness firsthand the impact of meaningful ministry. If you feel called to make a difference, we encourage you to prayerfully consider joining one of these missions to see how God might use your talents and passion to bring change and hope to Japan.
