October 2019 Prayer Letter

The leaves are beginning to fall as the cold air is moving in our way. Autumn is definitely on our doorstep and sweaters are starting to show up.

In September, Silas turned one year old! Instead of crawling, Silas is walking now and running around. Whenever we call his name, he even responds by raising his hand! We are surprised at how quickly he is growing up.

We have been asking you to pray for a college student named Takafumi. When I recently asked him if he would trust Christ, his response reminded me of the words in Acts 17:32: “We will hear thee again of this matter.” We are sad because we know his “not now” means he rejected Jesus. However, there is another guy in his 30’s named Takeshi who first came about a month ago. I have met with him and Takafumi a couple times for Bible study. The short series covered looked at important things like creation, fall, redemption, repentance and restoration.  After the fourth study, I was very direct with Takeshi. “Will you believe on Jesus?” “I will believe,” he replied!

In our last letter, we asked you to pray for our driver’s license exam. We are pleased to let you know that we both passed the test! Many people say it is hard for foreigners to pass the driving test in Japan on the first try, so we appreciate your prayers.

During September, we had several different activities at the church. One idea the Hill family had was a cookie bake event. We were excited to see the Lord bring in several new families for this event. Please continue to pray for us as we work to reach them with the Gospel.

As you pray for us on the field, we would also like your help in raising up more laborers. One way you can do this is to have Bro. Jeff Bush come and preach. Bro. Bush (our mission board director) is a passionate speaker that you will enjoy greatly. Whether for a chapel service, church service, or mission conference, Bro. Bush will be a tremendous blessing to you and your people. You can contact him at (770) 362-3795 or jeff@visionmissions.com.

Yours for Japan,
The Miyashita Family
