July 2023 Prayer Letter

June seemed like a whirlwind. At the top of June, we moved locations. Because the metal roof has generated more heat than we expected, we are considering ways to help keep the building cool (Nagoya can reach high 90’s, low 100’s). The weekend after moving, we hosted an Open House at our church location and a few families visited for the first time.

Two days after we hosted the open house, 4 people came for a 10-day mission trip. On this trip, we not only saw Nagoya, but also the great need in Osaka and Tokyo. One young man who came on the mission trip is working on paperwork to come to Japan to learn Japanese and be involved in ministry.

Thank you for praying for our interns. They are now enrolled in a 5-week Japanese class for four hours a day. They are continuing to play basketball and meet new people. Additionally, we are coaching and instructing them on preaching short sermons. Because of their hard work, we currently have an English Bible study on Sunday afternoons in a central area.

Next year, we are planning to host 3, 7-day trips (Spring, Summer, Fall) to help more people see the need for the Gospel in Japan and learn what ministry in Japan is like. We are calling them reconnaissance tours since they are designed to help people see the need and see how to be involved. Please visit reachingjapan.com/recon for details and dates.

Please continue to pray for the church plant that we might see a total of 5 people saved and baptized this year!

Yours for Japan,

James Miyashita
