July 2021 Prayer Letter

Our time in the States is flying by, and we are looking forward to returning to Japan at the end of next month.

During June, we had the chance to visit churches in several states including Mississippi, North Carolina, and Georgia. We gave updates and shared plans for the next term on the field. We are excited as we pray and prepare to plant Owari Baptist Church in Nagoya later this year. The prefecture (state) that Nagoya is in was originally made up of three provinces and one of them was named Owari. We appreciate your prayers as we continue to figure out the details.

At the beginning of July, we also had the chance to be part our home church’s Vacation Bible School. Many volunteers helped to make it run smoothly, and I (James) had the privilege of preaching to the children each night. Several responded to the invitation, and I have heard that one boy trusted Christ.

A few days before writing this letter, Japan’s prime minister (pictured) announced that Japan would
be hosting the Olympics without spectators in Tokyo. Because of another rise in Covid cases, they have placed the capitol and several other regions in yet another state of emergency. We had been hopeful that things would begin to open up before we return, so this was a sad to watch.

However, Aichi prefecture (where Nagoya is) has not been included in this 4th state of emergency.

Additionally, our re-entry will not be hindered by this state of emergency. While the circumstances are not optimal, we praise the Lord that the door is still open for us. Please continue to pray with us as we wrap things up in the states to go
back at the end of August!

Yours for Japan,
The Miyashita Family
