Happy New Year! If we learned anything last year, it was that our vision wasn’t 2020 after all! Last year was nothing like any of us had anticipated at the beginning of the year. But God is still good, and here we are at the beginning of another year.
Thank you for praying for the Christmas Concert and Christmas Eve service we had last month. Despite COVID ramping up (again), we had a great turnout. The concert brought in several first-time visitors, and there were 37 at the Christmas Eve service. Please continue to pray for those who attended these events that God will work in their hearts.
Rosie is close to finishing her 2 years of language school. She continues to proactively meet with ladies and practice her Japanese. While she doesn’t have much time left in official language school, please continue to pray for her to grow in her Japanese abilities.
Mr. Sato who got saved a couple months ago is now preparing for baptism. He and I talked over what Baptism is and a couple of weeks later, he asked about being baptized. Since our family will be transitioning out of our current position at the church plant this year, we saw the lessons in preparation for baptism as an opportunity for Bro. Hill to form a relationship with Mr. Sato that will continue after we are gone. Because of this, Bro. Hill is taking him through the baptism lessons. Lord willing, Mr. Sato will be baptized soon.
Speaking of planting a church, we will be announcing the city where we will plant a church in our next prayer letter. We will also be doing a LIVE video for this announcement on Friday, January 15th at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. You can tune in LIVE or watch it afterward by going to facebook.com/reachingjapan. If you would like to sign up for a one-time Email or SMS reminder for this LIVE event, please click here.
Thank you for your prayers, cards, notes, and words of encouragement. Many of you have generously given during the Christmas season to help our work and we greatly appreciate your gifts. Thank you for partnering with us so we can work in Japan!
Yours for Japan,
James Miyashita
