In August, we held our Summer Recon Tour. Our time together with the pastor from Minnesota was mutually beneficial. After faithfully pastoring for several years, he feels God calling him to Japan. We were able to show him what life and ministry look like in Japan, and he was an encouragement to many in our congregation.
On a separate note, our second TV Tower Seminar had to be postponed when several participants canceled. However, we are thankful to have a recording of the first seminar which we divided into segments to post online. Many of them have garnered hundreds of views on YouTube! It’s encouraging to see that even when plans change, God is still working.
At our church BBQ this month, several folks from our church brought friends and family. It was the first time these guests had ever been to a church! This is a small but significant step in a journey to come to Christ.
Meanwhile, God has allowed our Stateside social media presence to take off in a new direction. One video calling for prayer for more laborers in Japan has reached over 2 million views and touched more than 850,000 accounts. Through this, God has connected us with many new people, some of whom will be joining us on future Recon Tours. (As a side note, if you or someone you know is interested in missions or missionary work in Japan, we’d love for you to share the information available at ReachingJapan.com/recon.) We are eager to see how the next stages unfold in God’s timing. We covet your prayers for wisdom in balancing our recruiting work with the day-to-day tasks of church planting.
On a personal note, our boys are old enough that Rosie has taken them to the pool several times this summer. The 100-degree weather hasn’t stopped us from enjoying ice cream and quality time together. Now as summer winds down, the kids will be returning to school as we shift into the rhythms of fall.
Yours for Japan,
The Miyashita Family
