A start (1/3/2022)

Happy New Year! After our Christmas festivities, we took a few days to visit my (James’) parents who live about 4 hours away by car. After getting back we jumped into getting ready for the new year.

Since Sunday was on the New Year’s day, this year we moved our Sunday Morning service to the afternoon and asked people to come hand out hand warmers in front of the large shrine in our area. They estimated that 1.6 MILLION people would come through during the first three days of the year. For 2 hours we stood outside the shrine as people flooded from the train station to go to the shrine. We handed out 4800 hand warmers that also included scripture and QR codes to a Video and a blog article talking about prayer.

Please pray that God will work through His word. We are excited about what God is going to do in this city in 2023.

During the New Year, many people go to temples and shrines to offer their first prayers of the year. When they go, they usually throw in some money in a box before putting their hands together. As more places try to get with the times and go cashless, temples are trying to go cashless with their offerings too. Read about it here.
