In our last letter, we wrote to you about getting the keys to the church building and our scheduled move. Things have been moving along smoothly as we head toward the official church launch on Dec. 12th.
The space we are renting for the church is not extremely large by American standards, but it suits the stage we are in very well. The space includes a small office room, a main auditorium room which we can use for services and Bible studies, and a small children’s room.
We began a short-term English conversation class on November 9th and a dozen people registered to attend. While we did have some cancellations, we had 6 people who came for the first night.
We were also moved into our apartment without any issues. Within a week, we felt right at home. There are still a few small things we are waiting for, but we have pretty much adjusted. Now we are finalizing moving details with some paperwork (license plates etc.).
On November 14th we hosted our first Bible study at the church location and two people attended. We were glad to have done this since it forced us to figure out the details of the new space we are renting and to get things together before our official launch date in December.
As we continue to get accustomed to the city and prepare for the upcoming launch, we definitely need your prayers. One main prayer request is that we can minister to those who have started attending the English classes and that they will get saved. We also need you to pray with us that we can find and connect with young men who we can lead to the Lord and train for the work.
Thank you for your faithful partnership in the Gospel!
Yours for Japan,
James Miyashita
