May 2024 Prayer Letter

We are eagerly preparing for an upcoming seminar aimed at introducing Christianity and the Bible to newcomers. This special event will be held at an iconic downtown location, called the TV Tower. Since people live busy lives, we decided to compress several weeks of a beginner Bible study into a one-day event. We will look at the overarching theme of the Bible, the life of Jesus, and the path to becoming a Christian. We already have our first attendee registered. Please pray for increased registrations as we approach the dates in June and July.

Kris, who helps with our stateside operations, was recently able to visit along with her son. Her stay gave her a deeper insight into the life and culture of Nagoya, enhancing her ability to communicate with people in the U.S. Please continue to pray for her in her fundraising and work.

For our recent Mother’s Day event, children crafted carnation-themed gifts for their mothers. This event was particularly special since it drew in local families, including friends of Rosie, marking a significant connection within our community. As we aim to reboot our children’s program in July, please pray for our family friendly events that we are doing.

On a separate note, a lady recently visited the church who told us that she held onto a flyer from us for two years beforedeciding to come to our church. We have been in Nagoya for almost three years, and it is exciting to begin seeing some long-term effects of the work.

As we pray, plan, and recruit more laborers, please continue to pray with us so we can see 16 churches started by 2030! For those who are praying about ministry involvement in Japan, we encourage you to apply for one of our upcoming Recon Tours by going to reachingjapan.com/recon.

Yours for Japan,

James Miyashita
