March 2019 Prayer Letter

Recently, a supporter said they had not heard from us in a while. After some digging, we found out that some (not all) of our emails were not being delivered due to a technical problem. We believe the issue is resolved, but if you are subscribed to our emails and still do not hear from us, PLEASE EMAIL ME at james.miyashita@gmail.com. We intend to keep you updated on a regular basis and have no plans to stop sending weekly/monthly updates. 🙂 Every weekly and monthly update is also available at reachingjapan.com/blog.

During February, we were able to make a lot of progress in setting up. We went from not having a car, to having a furnished place to live. Since our setup is basically complete, we have been working to transition into ministry roles.

Rosie has already been working on the language and meeting with a lady who has been coming to the church. Please pray for her tutor to get saved. Her name is Yuko. Beginning in April, our plans are to have Rosie enrolled in a regular language study program, but until then she is going around and learning words and phrases in advance. We were also able to hire a babysitter to watch Silas while Rosie is studying Japanese. There are two different babysitters for different days of the week. One of them, Mrs. Ban, has been showing interest in the Bible. In fact, while Silas was taking his morning nap, she read 20 pages in the Genesis and later asked questions about what she read. Please pray for her to get saved.

We are excited to be working here under the Hill Family. They continue to be a tremendous help and blessing to us as we try to get things rolling here. As we move forward, there are several events and activities that we would like for you to be praying about.

Since Valentine’s Day in Japan is primarily for women giving men chocolate, Japan also has White Day for men to give women chocolate. We will be holding a special White Day event at the church on March 14th, so please pray that we will 1) have a full house and 2) make good contacts to follow up with. During April, I (James) am planning on holding guitar lessons on Friday evenings as a means of outreach. Please be praying for this as well.

While Japan is a free country, we sense and see the devil at work. His strongholds seem great, but we know that our God is greater. Please pray that we will not listen to the Devil’s lies and will continue working to spread the Gospel of Jesus.

Yours for Japan,
The Miyashita Family
