Each month Reaching Japan is highlighting one of the 20 Cities Designated by Government Ordinance. This week’s spotlight is on Chiba city.
Chiba City is kind of like Oklahoma city in that it has the same name as the prefecture (state) that is in. Chiba City is in Chiba Prefecture.
As part of the greater metropolitan Tokyo area, Chiba is one of several major cities that make of the vast sea of concrete that extends from Tokyo. Known for it’s advanced monorail system (see picture above), Chiba city boasts the longest suspended monorail system in the world. The city holds a Guinness World Record for its special monorail system.
As of February 2016, Chiba City has 970,000 people. A quick Google search for Churches in Chiba City yielded fewer than 5 Baptist churches.
