This year, we held our Easter Celebration and picnic at the park. We sang and had a short message about the resurrection. It was encouraging to see a lady who regularly attends bring her unsaved family — mother, daughter in law, AND grandson!
The same afternoon, we hosted an easter egg hunt and about 35 kids showed up with their parents to participate. It was the first time we have had this many people attend an event. Our goal is to do several more events in the community to gain momentum for a reboot of our kids’ program. Next up is a parent/child activity on Mother’s Day.
April is the season of new beginnings. As the blossoming cherry trees announce the start of spring, the new school year also begins. Our two oldest sons were excited for their new classes. In April we celebrated Amos’ 4th birthday and our 7th wedding anniversary. On our anniversary date night, we noticed a department store celebrating its 7th year of business and decided that they must have wanted to celebrate with us too
In a Stateside development, we are excited to announce Kris Wilson as the latest and indispensable addition to our Reaching Japan team. Kris has experience working with the Japanese in both professional and ministry contexts and is coming alongside to assist with Stateside operations. This is a huge answer to prayer! We recently did an interview with her so you can get to know her better. You can watch the vide on YouTube by clicking here.
Our Summer Recon Tour application deadline is approaching for the August 3-10th trip. As you pray with us for laborers, perhaps God has been working in your own heart to come to Japan. If you have a desire to be involved in church planting here, whether as a pastor or as someone assisting in another capacity, check out reachingjapan.com/recon to apply.
Yours for Japan,
The Miyashita Family
