April 2022 Prayer Letter

Dear Pastors, Friends, and Faithful Supporters,

How is it already April?! The time is quickly flying but we are honored to send you an update on what is happening here in Japan.

Toward the beginning of April we not only celebrated Amos’ second birthday, but also our 5th wedding anniversary. God has been really good to us in allowing us to come this far together.

Also in April, Silas began Pre-K. April is when schools typically start their school year. Everyone from kindergarten all the way up to college begins the school year in April. With Silas on a new schedule, we are having to adjust to our family rhythm as well. However, we are enjoying watching him grow. Rosie took care of 98% of the work to get Silas into kindergarten and has done an incredible job handling all of those details.

We are continuing to make adjustments along the way as we proceed with the church planting work. For instance, many people in our city drive so we feel like we need a better parking solution for our first church location. While we have come up with a short-term solution, please be praying with us that we can find a more long-term solution (i.e., affordable and scalable).

We also made another major adjustment by starting in a second location at the top of April. Thankfully, we had a couple of people come even on that first Sunday! The second location is about a 25 minute drive from where the first church is.

As the school year and work year kick into gear, we are excited about the possibilities to meet people who have recently moved to the city. With colleges and universities starting back up as well, we look forward to having more opportunities to connect and share the Gospel with people. We covet your prayers as we move forward.

Yours for Japan,

James Miyashita
